Art + Ocean = Wyatt's PhilanthroParty Art Show

I’ve been inspired by huge, amazing fund raisers with celebrities and fancy gift bags.  They raise thousands of dollars and get a lot of attention for their cause. Awesome! But truthfully, the events that inspire me most are the ones that are small, personal, and unique. I love events that make me say, “I can do that!”

Wyatt loves art.  Wyatt loves the ocean.  He put it all together for an amazing art Philanthro-Party.  7 year old Wyatt asked his mom's favorite clothing boutique if he could display his clay figures and have an art show.  Wyatt made an extremely impressive  claymation movie called “Save the Sea From The Trash Monster!” He wrote a book about it, too. He was selling his movie, his book, and his clay sculptures in support of Oceana.  The boutique set it up like a real gallery opening party and it was PACKED!

The first thing I did when I got home was get out the clay! Wyatt is a true LemonAID Warrior. He uses his 7 year old creativity to make the world notice what is important to him. The Ocean!  Way to go, Wyatt. I’m a huge fan!!! Watch his claymation movie.  It's SO good.

On November 7th,  I went to 7 year old Wyatt Workman’s art show at a boutique called Dari.  Wyatt made an extremely impressive  claymation movie called “Save the Sea From The Trash Monster!” He wrote a book about it, too. Wishing you WELL(s) this Christmas!

I gave my Christmas shopping list a LemomAID Twist to find a way to give presents to the people on the list AND give the gift of clean water to two families in Africa.  Here's how I did it... LemonAID Warriors is sending 2 bio sand water filters to Africa this Christmas. This will provide clean water for 2 homes in  Africa, where local well water is not available. The children in these houses will now be able to go to school instead of making the 6 mile hike every day to get water for their families. Here's how I'm doing it... 2 Bio Sand Filters cost about $180.00 I have $400.00 to spend on 20 people from my gift list. I spent $220.00 on 20 awesome Lemon scented soy candles wholesale price.

I made my own LemonAID Warriors labels and let the person know that this gift is sending water filters to Africa. I have a total of $180.00 left over in my Christmas shopping budget to send toBloodWaterMissions.com, which covers the cost of 2 filters! I would LOVE to send more. So, if you would like to order a candle from me, I will make a $9.00 donation on your behalf. OR... take a look at your Christmas budget and get creative. Come up with your own version of what I did. Let me know what you did and I will feature you on my website.

A biosand filter is one type of water technology implemented in some of the communities Blood:Water serves. These in-home filters use sand and other biological material to turn contaminated, dirty water into clean, safe water. Using relevant, sustainable technology allows communities to be empowered to receive the best solution that fits their needs.

I held this contest in New York at the Tween Summit. Those who entered listened to me speak about LemonAID Warriorsand I signed them up to help me put on a national LemonAID Stand on Memorial Day!

Even the band, Sick of Sarah joined the fun. After their awesome concert, they stopped by and gave me their best pucker faces. They are cool and talented and hilarious and totally good sports.

Check them out at  www.sickofsarah.com.

Here are some photos of me and the band and our pucker faces.

But check back soon for the real finalists of the Pucker Face contest and VOTE!!

Spotlight Warriors: Tara Suri and MacAllan Durkin

The Tween Summit in New York was unforgettable! It was the first time anyone recognized my little lemonade stands as counting for something bigger.  I was excited...but then freaked out.  There I was, standing beside Tara Suri and MacCallan Durkin who were SO accomplished.  But they made me feel better immediately. The summit was what mad me feel like I can push LemonAID Warriors into something that not only helps but inspires others to take action. I was in a room full of girls and women who were talking about how my generation is going to change the world for good. I was so honored to get the award from Denise Restauri of AllyKatzz. She totally understands how small gestures lead to big things. Also, my Pucker Face contest was attacked by mobs of girls!  While they were getting their pictures taken sucking on lemons, I signed them all up to be LemonAID Warriors for my National Lemonade Stand on Memorial Day.

Read about my amazing warriors.  MacAllan Durkin and Tara Suri

But, my most memorable moments came from meeting other awardees, like Tara at www.aandolan.org, and 15 year old Macallen. Her organization builds shelters and schools in Mexico and Africa. Learn more athttp://goodygoodies.org/index.htm

I also met the mother of Brit from Be Like Brit at http://www.belikebrit.org . 18 year old Brit died in the earthquake in Haiti while volunteering with the poor. Her mother promised to build an orphanage in her honor. We all decorated tiles that will be part of a wall at the new orphanage. I realized my work for Haiti is not done, and I want to keep going!

LemonAID Warrior's first official event!

This event started everything for me.  It inspired me to not only do my work but to inspire others.  Here is my post from 2010. It's also where I invented Lemonaid Warrior's most popular PhilanthroParty...The Pucker Face Contest!   Tween Summit, 2010 is in a few days, and I’m going to be there! On 10/10/10,AllyKatzz.com is hosting a day of girly-fun, for tweens only (sorry, mom). Plus, we will be inspired by all sorts of kids our age who are changing the world. They invited me to talk about LemonAID Warriors, only I’m not going just talk. I’m going to hold the first ever….wait for it….Pucker-Face Contest! Come to my table, sign up to be a LemonAID Warriorlearn about my charity, and get your picture taken sucking a lemon and making a wacky pucker face. Visit my website after October 15th vote for the best pucker face. The winner gets a free case of JONES SODA with their picture on the label! Love JONES SODA!!

I can’t wait to meet hundreds of new friends who LOVE to fund raise, just like me. I am especially excited to meet the other young philanthropists who are being honored. They  have these  amazing organizations, and I can’t wait to learn from them. Then, I will share it all with you so we can get busy with all sorts of new ideas!
